The equipment you buy from "thesource3" on eBay has, as is true of all quality photographic equipment, additional capabilities to extend its value and usefulness, as your photographic needs and capabilities grow.

An Optional Color Filter Set
extends your creative photographic options

The optional 3 filter set for the Bare Bulb Strobes

Here's just a small sample of the variations you can get from putting a color filter over your background light. The background on all these shots was a pure white muslin. The color intensities can range from a heavy, deep color, to a light tint, depending upon the settings you choose, the angle of your background light, and the distance of the background light (the AS-32B) from the backdrop. I made these exposures with a relatively light tint (and I purposely included the AS-32B/BB-50 in the shots, something we usually don't want!), so you could see it. If you'll notice, in the blue exposure (on the right), how I angled the AS-32B (by pointing it up), resulting in a tonal gradation of deeper color at the top, and lighter color at the bottom, to show you one of the many techniques you can use to give you all sorts of different coloration effects. Also be aware that these shots were made with a cheapie digital camera; your 35MM or medium or large format pictures will have much better results. Heck, you can spend a whole week just playing around with this stuff! Just be sure you keep careful notes (you DO keep notes on your exposures, don't you?) so you'll be able to duplicate your favorite effects!

Just to be 100% clear on this, these color filters DO NOT come with the AS-32B Bare Bulb Strobes; they're just an option I thought you might like to know about (they usually run under $20.00, a worthwhile consideration for your future photographic growth, and it's nice to know that your new equipment has additional capabilities, right?).

Please don't think I'm trying to "sell" you something extra; I'm just trying to make my auctions as educational - and as much fun - as I can. I'm really surprised at how few photographic items are ever explained to us (are other photographers afraid to share their "secrets" or something?). Anyway, after spending years being confused about photography, and finally learning how to do it, I was really shocked at how rare it was to find understandable educational material on the subject! So maybe I'm obsessed with helping folks understand how to make good photographs; if so, then so be it. If you don't like it, then please accept my most humble apologies; if you do like it, then go make some a great photographs. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask - and NO you don't have to buy anything! Thanks.

We all know (er, well, we all should know) how a different background (also called a backdrop) can completely change the look, feel, tone, and atmosphere of a shot. That's why there are backgrounds! Hey, this isn't the forum for a photography lesson, but just as a "quckie" (no, not THAT kind of a quickie ;-) to give you an idea, look at the pictures below; both are the same girl. Only one has a blue background, and the other has a green background. Look at her eyes. See? If you want to improve your pictures and videos, you might consider different backgrounds. If you choose to try this, you'll need something to hold the backdrops: ergo, background stands and systems! Check out what's available in all standard muslin backgrounds...

Yeah, yeah, I can hear the purists already complaining about the lighting differences, but I ain't trying to make art here, nor is it a "lesson" but just an imperfect example, so keep quiet and make your own pictures/films; if you've got a better example, send it in (I'll use it!), OK? If not, then buy one of these great packages and make better photographs!
By the way, I'll have some great new backgrounds coming in soon! If you'd like to be notified of new arrivals and the eBay auctions coming up, subscribe to my mailing list. The form to subscribe is just below.

Pet Peeve2: BTW, unlike some other sellers I've run across, all my merchandise is in stock for immediate shipment!
